Indian Coffee House, MG Road

Indian Coffee House, a coffee shop in the heart of the city was in 'Must Visit' list for quite some time now. I had heard some great review about this place. So finally I landed on this place accidentally.
Location: This place is located on MG Road and considering the Metro chaos on this Road this is the worst place to visit a restaurant. As you all know the parking in this area is pretyy horrible.
Rating:- 2/5

Ambience: The place was lasted painted like 30-40 years ago. The place has been shabbily maintained with same old seats and dirty flooring. The stair which leads you to the 1st floor is horrible. I understand the concept of maintaining the originality of the place bit it dosent mean that you dont maintain the place at all. Extremely dissapointing.
Rating: 1.5/5
Food and Service: The menu had limited items like Cutlets, Omlette, Dosas and Toasts to go with Coffee which is supposed to be speciality of this place. We had Veg Cutlets, Mutton Cutlets, Omlette and Finger chips. The food was very ordinary and pretty oily. The Coffee which was supposed to the speciality was pathetic. This was the worst coffee we had in sometime. This was not all. The service was one of the worst I had seen

in my entire life. The waiter was extremely rude and very untidy and he was going around yelling at the customers in the shop. We were extremely scared to even place the order. And it was all happening in front of the manager and he was hardly bothered. It was cultural shock to all of us and hopefully once in alife time experience.
Rating:- 0.5/5
Overall this place has to be on all of your's 'Places to Avoid' list. This is not at all worth all the hype it has recieved. Be it the poor ambience, below ordinary food and pathetic service evrything is so bad about the place.

Blue Ginger, Taj West End

Blue Ginger, Taj West End
Fine Dining - Vietnamese Cuisine
Hello Guys, I am back after a long break. This time its a review about Restaurant with

Vietnamese Cuisine in Taj West End, one of the Three operational Taj hotels in Bangalore.
Location: Taj West End is located on the busy Race Course Road. Not many offices located in the surroundings and very heavy traffice most times of the day.
Rating:- 3/5

Ambience: They have tried thier best to replicate the Vietnamese or South East Asian Ambience. I really cannot comment on it because I have not been to a Vietnamese place before. But it looked pretty exotic. The sofas, the pond and the tables looked pretty good.
Rating:-3.5/5

Food: If one thing I can comment about the food is 'Expensive'. The food was really expensive and portions were too little. A soup which had a portion of less than half of the quantity of normal portion costed 450 bucks. Main course was something around 800 to 1000 bucks. Same with starters.

Now coming to food, most of us didnot have much clue about the vietnamese food so we relied completely on the chef to recomend us. The prawn and chicken starters we really tasty.( I donot remember the name.)
The main course was nothing great. Just ordinary.

Overall Rating: This place didnt live upto the price and my expectation.

Coffee Day Square, Vittal Mallya Road

Coffee Day Square
Category - Coffee Shop
The new coffee shop to hit the town - Coffee Day Square. You would start wondering, what's new in that? Its the same old coffee day. The answer is "No". It is actually the new flagship store by Coffee Day.

Location
This place is located on Coffee Day Corporate office on Vittal Mallya Road. It is hardly 1oo meters from UB City and easily located.
Rating - 4/5
Parking
It is supposed to have a Vallet Parking but we did not find anyone to pick our car up so we ourselves had to park in the basement and ramp connecting the basement has been poorly designed. It is extremely narrow. So guys driving in the sedan's please watch out.
Rating - 3.5/5

Ambience
The ambience is not all that great. This being Coffee Day's Flagship store they could have done a better job out of it. Definitely its different from the usual coffee days but nothing new and refreshing. No attention has been given to details. Bad Flooring, unfinished furniture and Facades all add upto to the poor interiors.
Rating - 2/5

Food & Coffee

Nothing new. Same stuff. Only prices have been increased and a newly designed menu. Nothing new at all.
Rating - 2/5
Overall Rating
You can give this place a miss. This place didnt live up to its expectation of a being a flagship store. This place lacks creativity both in ambience and well as menu.
Rating - 2.5/5

Khansama, UB City

BJN Group's new offering to add to thier already impressive list is " Khansama". Khansama follows " Royal Indian Theme". So you can be rest assured for a royal treatment from BJN.

Location
The restaurant is located on Concorde Block, UB City, Vittal Mallya Road. What better location you can ask for? I dont think so I need to give any landmarks as UB City itself is a good enough landmark for the City itself.
Rating - 5/5

Parking
Not a problem at all. There is a MLCP ( Multi level Car Park) which charges Rs.30 for 2 hrs. But please avaoid the Valet parking. They charge Rs.100 for Valet parking. Pretty strange huh!!
Rating - 4/5

Format
This place has both Ala Carte as well as Buffet( Not sure about the nite).
Rating - 3.5/5

Ambience
Ambience is very fine. Attention has been given to evry possible detail. The Wall paintings are
awwsome. The furnitures have been precisely designed. I cannot recall the music in the
background. Sorry for that. You can also find few stuffed animals ( May be artificial) which is an added attraction. If you just run your eyes around you can see how well Royal Theme has been executed. After all it is BJN, master of theme restaurants.
Rating - 4.5/5

Food
The food is thrives on "Indian" cuisine. So you can expect lot of Tandoor and Mughlai dishes. I
went for a afternoon buffet here. So cannot comment much on Als Carte. Food is very decent.
They have also got a see through kitchen (The Girl in the pic was not intended) Like any typical Buffet they had 2 soups, few salads, 6 starters ( 3 veg,1 chicken, 1 fish and 1 lamb), Veg Biryani, 3 veg subzis, 1 dal, 1 chicken dish, plain rice and a bread basket. The Desert menu inclued Fruit Salad, Gulab Jamun, Cham Cham, Pastry, Vanilla and Strawbery Icecream and Chocolate sauce ( the chocalate sauce hardens on your icecream like a chocobar..yummy) The food is good but could have been better. But definitely the

ambience kind of covers up for the food.
Rating - 3.5/5

Pricing
The buffet was priced at 275+ 10% SC+ 12.5% VAT which comes upto Rs.330 which is pretty decent. I got a chance to look at the ala carte menu and it was kind on the higher side. To give you an fair sense of idea Non veg platter was priced at Rs.750.
Rating - 3.5/5

Overall, the ambience and the location of this restaurant is top class. The food can be made better infact a few more non veg dishes can be added to the spread. The Buffet would still be the best bet. The reservation is very important here as it is usually full in the afternoons.
Overall Rating - 3.5/5

New Shanti Sagar, Koramangala

New Shanti Sagar is a famous South Indian chain which is spread across Bangalore. They have
more than 10 outlets around Bangalore.
I have also heard that they have started thier outlets in Delhi. Today I will be reviewing New Shanti Sagar, Koramangala.
Location
Located on 80 Feet Road,7th Block, Koramangala. It is one of the busiest roads in Koramangala. It is located approx. 500 meters from Forum Mall. The famous landmarks are HDFC Bank, Airtel Customer Centre.
Rating: 4/5
Parking
This place doesnot have a Valet parking. But there is ample parking space available in front of the restaurant. But on a busy weekend evening you may not find a parking space right in front and you may to go hunting for a space. But there are lot of parking spaces in the vicinity.
Rating - 3/5
Format
Like most of Shanti Sagar's even this restaurant has 3 formats. Darshini - G Floor, Seating - G Floor, AC Seating - 1st Floor. They also have a party hall for functions. So you have got a lot of options down there.
Rating - 5/5
Ambience
The AC section has a very nice amience with decent interiors. Nothing much to speak about the other 2 formats.
Rating - 3/5

Food

Now coming to best part of NSS, "Food". The food is seriously amazing. My favorite Idly Vada Sambar. This one you only get in the Darshini Format. They pour the extremely tasty Sambar into Idly Vada unlike where you dip vada into sambar given in a bowl.
The Dosas are also simply amazing. You will also find some Costal Karnataka specialities like Goli Baje ( Mangaluru Bajji) and Mensinkayi Podi in the evenings. The Souh Indian Thali is available in the afternoons and it is very decent. The north Indian Food is extremely good considering this is a South Indian Chain. I simply love the Dal Fry out here. Chats are nothing great apart from Pav Bhaji which is a master class. Never tried the Chinnese dishes here and I would recommend not to try them also. Coffee
is something you can die for. Very well done. Ice creams and Fruit Juices are pretty average.
Rating - 4.5/5
Hygene
The hygene quotient is pretty decent here. You can see people walking around the kitchen with caps on thier head. Also I have not found any unwanted stuff in my food.
Rating - 3.5/5
Pricing
The pricing is very decent in Darshini and Seating formats but kind of on the higher side in AC format. Just to give you Guys an idea Idly Vada Sambar in Darshini costs Rs.18, Rs. 28 in Seating and Rs.35 in AC. "Quality never comes cheap"
Rating - 3.5/5
Overall it is a very nice restauarant with lots of choices. My Recommendations - Idly Vada Sambar, Paper Plain Dosa, Pav Bhaji, Dal Fry, Coffee.
Rating - 4/5
